A friend of mine has recently introduced me to a quite puzzling math puzzle.
You have the following sequence of terms:
1
11
21
1211
111221
312211
13112221
And you have to figure out what the algorithm is. To prove yourself you’ve got it, just write down the next term. The answer will come in a future post.
OK. So we know that instead of using the database, regular files can be used. It’s quite ineffective, but it’s possible. This means that the database structure and the regular file structure are somehow interchangeable.
So… this would mean that the database can be used instead of regular files.
Now, this is the obvious use of the BLOB object, but it’s mainly used for media files. What I had in mind are actual web-pages, including PHP code, stored inside the database.

After the really good response I’ve got from the community regarding the Byty Child Theme and the CatDrop Child Theme over at cozmoslabs.com I wanted to develop more Child Themes and release them for free.
With a touch of purple and green, this simple theme would look lovely on any personal blog. I’ve removed the top menu so if you need it you’ll have to add the “Pages” Widget to the left side of the theme.
In order to install it you have to download the
Thematic Theme (from which this child theme inherits all of the functionality), upload both themes (Crystalline and Thematic) to your server in the themes folder AND THEN ACTIVATE the Crystalline theme.
I would appreciate your feedback and if you find bugs please add a comment so I can fix them!
I hope you enjoy using this theme as much as I enjoyed developing it!
It all started a couple of days ago, when we were working on an aquarium fish website, and we had some trouble while trying to sort posts within certain categories alphabetically.
We found a plugin called Sort Category Posts By Title that seemed to be just what we needed, but when using it only with specific categories, it wouldn’t work if pretty permalinks were activated.
We also tried Sobek’s Posts in Category, but found out that, even though it still gets about 10 downloads each day, it does not work for WordPress 2.6.3 or higher.
Fortunately, about that time we stumbled upon the Custom Queries page in the Codex, the ‘encyclopedia of WordPress knowledge’. That’s where we found out that there exists a hook called ‘posts_orderby’ designed to do exactly what we needed.
So we figured that since we’re planning to be using more of WordPress in the future as a general purpose Content Management System, we could also contribute by writing this much needed post sorting plugin.
You can download via the official WordPress plugins repository.
To-Do List
